One
remarkable accomplishment that was spearheaded by the PTA was the construction
of a playscape. A year in the planning, involving numerous fund-raising
projects and nearly a thousand volunteers, this 10,000 square foot playground
area is a work of art. Student input provided the basis for the design;
Leathers and Associates provided the expertise and final plans. Hundreds
of volunteers worked through the heat and rain for five straight days
of intensive construction. The treated wooden structure includes children's
artwork, fort apertures, balance and gymnastic equipment, and a variety
of climbing, sliding, and swinging apparatuses. Hundreds of school and
community children have enjoyed countless hours of entertainment and
fun at this playscape.
