-Have your child count the change at a store. If the total is $6.75 have them use your change to make the $.75 to pay.

Reading Ideas (Sight Word Practice)

- Play a game of concentration with your sight words. Write each word two times on separate index cards. Turn all the cards upside down and match them up. The trick is you have to read them to get the points!

- Play a game of OOPS!!! Put all your sight words in a box with several Oops! cards. Reach in and grab a word. If you can read the word, you keep it, if not put all your cards back. If you grab an Oops! card, you have to put all your cards back.

-Read! Read! Read! Encourage your child to read whatever he/she enjoys. Wordsearches, magazines, books, and even some computer games are great ways to practice reading!

-Encourage your child to have his/her reading sound like talking. If your child is decoding words slowly, have him/her go back and reread without stopping to gain fluency.

-Make a tape of your child reading so that he/she can go back later and listen to themselves.
