Along with classroom rules I also use a flip card behavior chart. Each day, your child will start off on a green card. If they have a behavior that is inappropriate, the flip chart will work as follows:
Green = GREAT DAY! Keep it up!
Yellow = Warning. Please don't continue the behavior.
Orange = Second Offense. Behavior continued and 5 minutes of recess will be lost.
Red = Third Offense. Behavior still continued. Loss of entire recess and parent/principal will be contacted.

I am also a strong believer in positive reinforcement. When I catch students demonstrating an appropriate behavior, they earn a sticker for their behavior chart. After 12 stickers are earned, students are given a FREE HOMEWORK PASS! In our classroom we sit in groups. Each group is able to earn tallies for their star at the front of the room. At the end of the week, the table with the most tallies will earn candy when they come back to school on Monday. Finally, we can earn rewards as an entire class. I have a teddy bear jar that sits on my desk. The class can earn teddy bears that are placed in the whole class behavior teddy bear jar. When the jar is full, we can have a classroom party!
