Exercise
Club
The focus of this club is to promote exercise and
proper health practices among our students at MIS. A session
may include stretching, an activity such as jump roping or power
walking, and discussing a health practice such as hand washing or
the food pyramid.

Intramural Basketball
Intramural Basketball has 10 sessions in which the
students learn fundamentals of basketball leading up to student
games. Each student will be on a team for the remaining
intramural sessions.

Launch Newspaper
Team
Get the inside scoop on the events happening at MIS.
This club focuses on staff interviews, current events, entertainment
reviews, and sports. Like a regular newspaper, these positions
need to be filled by a team of hard working, responsible
journalists.

Peer
Mediation
The focus of this club trains students as mediators
to create a peaceful school environment. Students gain insight
on how to deal with conflict differently. The end result is a
more peaceful school.

Rocket
Readers
Rocket Readers is a Book Club at MIS open to
fifth-grade students. Each month, a different book will be
read, discussed, and critiqued. The goals of Rocket Readers
are for students to read and understand different genres, to discuss
and critique novels that are read, and to do small projects to go
along with each book.

Say No to
Drugs
The focus of this club will be how to say no to drugs
and building self-esteem. A session will include a
presentation, group discussion or project, followed by an activity
period where students will participate in a group activity.

Student Council
Student Council focuses on building a good school
environment. Student Council members perform many service
oriented functions. These include collecting items for less
fortunate people, community based involvement, and working together
to lend help at MIS.
