The 2025-2026 school year calendar has been revised due to recent notification that one of our schools is being used as a polling place while students were scheduled to be in session. This means there is no school for all students on the March 17th which moves the last day of the school year to Friday, May 29th. The calendar can be found on our website at:

Our tech department has been very busy this summer refreshing and preparing over 2,000 current and new tech devices to ensure our students and teachers are ready to start the school year! Thank you to our tech crew for their hard work!

Summer projects at the junior high are almost finished! The grand hallway has new flooring that has replaced the school's original carpeting and "A wing" classrooms have a paint refresh!

📢 Special shoutout to MIS ELL Teacher, Ms. Nisrin Al-Takriti! She was chosen out of over 900 state educators to spend five days in Springfield this summer providing feedback on our state assessments. We are very thankful to have a Mokena educator a part of this process. You make us Mokena proud!

📣 Special shoutout to our Chief School Business Official, Dr. Teri Shaw, for leading an Administrator Academy for other CSBOs and Transportation Directors in Illinois! Her academy focused on the annual transportation claim and had over 120 particpants through the Illinois Association of School Business Officials. Way to represent Mokena SD 159!

The Will County Regional Office of Education is hosting a Back-to-School event on August 1st in Manhattan. This event will feature free backpacks and school supples, generously donated by local businesses, to help ensure every child starts the year ready to learn!

⚾ ⛳ 🏐 Tryouts for fall sports are quickly approaching. Emails containing important tryout information and registration links have been sent to all junior high families. 🥎 🏃
Please note that your child MUST be registered and have an updated sports physical on file in order to participate. No exceptions will be made. (If your child is an incoming 6th grader, their school physical will suffice as their sports physical. )
