MES students and teachers began their first Second Step lesson of the school year this week. Unit 1 is all about growth mindset and goal setting! Kindergarten and 1st graders learned about behaviors that help them pay attention. 2nd graders learned about ways to get better at a skill. 3rd graders learned about what happens to their brain when they learn something new. Great work, Stars! ⭐

Over the summer, the MIS library had a refresh, complete with paint and new carpeting! A huge thank you goes out to Mrs. Spasojevic and Mrs. Stojak for all of their hours of work to preparing the library for the students. We can't wait for it to open on Tuesday!
Our 6th graders in A205 kicked off ELA with a bang!
First up: Frayer Models got students thinking creatively about themselves. Then, budding journalists interviewed classmates to uncover hidden talents and fun facts and wrote descriptive paragraphs.
The real showstopper? Using Padlet and an AI drawing tool called "I can't draw" to create unique profiles of their peers. Students transformed those descriptive paragraphs into funny and unique profiles of their friends.
